Without further adieu here is our last Let’s do Dessert trip for the year. Booking our reservation a week in advance takes us to the Ocean Room.
First visit to the Ocean room for the October special meant I didn’t have high expectations despite all the hype and rave over this dessert dish. Did it meet my almost-non-existence expectations? Read on…
|Strawberry mascarpone with dehydrated strawberries and beetroot chips; strawberry soda pop; mint infused foam and MORE strawberries served with orange muscat & flora from Victoria.|
The strawberry mascarpone was done well but the beetroot chips? It was more a long strip of beetroot with barely any taste, and make that a tough strip too. We heart our beets but the dish probably could have gone without this beet strip. Strawberry soda pop won points as it gave me the infamous chewiness of a mentos.
Mint foam: Were we eating foam/bubbles? It also didn’t help that the spoon provided was way too big, perhaps they could have used Shangri La’s cutie dessert spoon instead.
Unfortunately, this dessert number didn’t make me skip a beat but don’t forget there is still time left till November hits so get out there and do more dessert dates!
