4Fourteen

Backtracking a few months into 2013 gives us the foodie month - October. October is the Good Food Month which also means it’s our foodie girl Felicia’s birthday. To start things off we ordered their set menu $70 pp. Chicken wings and cracking chips was a separate order but $8 for one wing –we just had to know what all the fuss was about. Read on to see all the other good fuss throughout the evening..

12hr slow cooked carrots spelt out absolute devine followed by lamb tongue which got us all questioning the odd puree texture. The mixed grain and smooth velvety potato mash made a few rounds on the table and was finished in record time.

Beef brisket stew was cooked perfectly and notice those ONION RINGS. Probably not the healthiest addition but they get our stamp of approval. Tip: mix the beef brisket with those naughty mash. No regrets. Ever.

The lamb was the favourite with the boys but who wouldn’t – tenderly cooked and the mixed herbs make this a winner competition with the $8 wings. Deboned wings and with pate - if only this could be my daily protein indulgence, it’s a tad pricey but definitely worth it and not at all overrated. Edit: these protein wings are no longer on offer :’(

Look at that deep fried goodness. Unfortunately the serving wasn’t enough for the table so made it awkward to share the few pieces of crackling. I’m so sorry but who in their right mind wouldn’t want a whole piece of cracking to themselves #idontsharecrackling

Set menu included two desserts but we did BYO Messina’s mushroom cake so our waiter kindly offered us the option of serving the cake plus one dessert dish AND with the cakeage costs waived. It was a sweet offer for us but things got even sweeter when this sweet number arrived…

Ice-cream sandwich with surrounding puddles of dulce and chocolate parfait. Hehe dulce surely makes me a happy girl and finally a year with the mushroom cake to celebrate Felica’s birthday. Dear Feli, hope you loved your shroom cake as much as I love my dulce.

  1. Looks a fair bit different to the meal I had at 4Fourteen last October - but that ice cream sandwich still rules.
