Within a hidden alley way in Sydney’s CBD, there is a nice Spanish Tapas Bar and Restaurant. My friend had booked a table at this restaurant for her birthday. I was informed beforehand that if we were to cancel it would be a $50 fee, per person. But I am always up for a drink and good food to celebrate my friend’s birth.

Following the directions of the map, I was able to find the restaurant. The restaurant was 2 stories high, the bottom was a bar, loud, full and flowing with conversation. Upstairs was the dining area, complete different scenario to the bottom level.

Onto the wine list, we were handed a list as big as a book. The website states there was 300 wines on selection at this restaurant. When we asked the waiter which wine he recommended, he had to bring over the wine specialist to assist.

The food, we ordered plenty of food and within minutes it came rolling out on the table. It was hard to take a photo of each dish as the dishes were coming out one after the other and people were hungry.

Crab, Avacado, & Chilli Tostado    $14

To start we were given the crab, avocado on toasted bread. When I was eating this, I could see the chunks of crab, however the crab was overpowered by the avocado mixture. The waiter informed us that they were able to accommodate the number of tostados per person on our table.

Roasted Chickpea, Morcilla (Blood Sausage), Scallops And Chilli - 6 Per Serving    $16

Next up was the scallops, these looked amazing and tasted just as great. I love pate and this was ordered under my request. First time tasting duck pate, this was oily, but still delicious. We also a serving of blood sausage and this blood sausage is not my forte, but my friends said it was great. The birthday girl's wish was to also order the warm potatoes and surprisingly this was also very tasty.

Warm Potato, Rosemary & Salt Coca   $12

Morcilla (Blood Sausage), Manuka Honey, Walnuts   $12

Duck Liver Pate   $13

Now the moment of truth, my favourite dish of the evening “jamón serrano, burrata, pickled red onion”. This was the most delicious ham and mozzarella I have ever eaten. The 3 items on the plate accompanied each other very well and tasted great in my mouth. I highly recommend this dish if you decide to try this place!

Jamón Serrano, Burrata, Pickled Red Onion   $19

The remaining dishes were meaty beef ribs and lamb shoulder. Both were very tender and came apart with a fork.

Beef Short Ribs, Verde Sauce   $28

Spiced Lamb Shoulder, Pomegranate, Yogurt   $20

Dessert wise we chose 2 dishes the dulce de leche tart and chocolate terrine. We had a special birthday request with the staff to put on the plate “Happy Birthday”. Very accommodating and they did a great job! The Tart was delicious and so was the Chocolate terrine, but the chocolate was very very rich, 1 spoonful was enough to satisfy my taste buds.

Dulce De Leche Tart   $12

Chocolate Terrine, Olive Oil & Salt Flake   $12

Overall there was plenty of conversation, fast food service and great customer service. Happy Birthday V! Tapas are always fun, but you should order everything with a group to try each and every dish.

Until Next time foodies!
