When my bestie Eunice booked her flight back to Sydney, her one request was for me to go to Tetsuya with her. Of course I was up for it because of the famous ocean trout confit that I’ve seen way too many times on social media and TV. Tetsuya offers a 11 course meal ($230/head) - so prepare for a major feast for your eyes :)

Bread with Truffle Butter
Oh man, I literally couldn’t stop eating this beautiful butter, it was as if I was eating a whole truffle, not that I’ve ate one before lol. I had stop myself from eating so much bread or else I can’t eat the rest of the food!

Silken Potato with Bottarga & Egg Yolk
I love my potato and ESPECIALLY when it’s silkened like this one, it had no grainy bits in it. We were shocked by how smooth it was.

Soy Poached Tuna with Roast Eggplant & Coastal Succulents
Tuna melted in my mouth and the hidden roast eggplant was absolutely delicious. The soy was light and doesn’t overpower the tuna.

Warm Octopus Salad with Fennel & Shiso Oil
As our knifes dug into the octopus, Eunice and I exchanged looks immediately. It was so SOFT, like cutting into tofu making it a VERY enjoyable dish.

Confit of Petuna Ocean Trout with Salad of Celery,
Witlof, Apple & Unpasteurised Ocean Trout Roe
The dish that I’ve seen on TV so many times is finally in front of my eyes! Just like the previous octopus, the trout was so easy to cut into. The umami from konbi was simply amazing and it was perfectly married with the apple salad. It was as good as everyone says it is!

Grilled Shio Koji Toothfish with Pea & Pencil Leek
By this time, I’m already dying to learn how to cook seafood as well as the Tetsuya’s chefs. Their toothfish is amazing and gotta love their slight grilled caramelized flavour.

Tea Smoked Quail Breast with Parsnip & Jamon Iberico
First meat dish of the course! I could smell the tea as soon as the dish was placed in front of me.

The quail was flawlessly pink and I could really taste tea that was used to smoke it.

Beef Tenderloin with Mushroom Cream & Asparagus
I tried a bit of Eunice’s brown mushroom cream and it was AMAZING. The flavour was intense like eating 10 wonderfully grilled mushroom at the same time mmm.

Lamb with Cabbage
As I couldn’t have beef due to allergies, they made me a dish with lamb. That cabbage was to die for, so sweet and buttery savoury, I was in a happy place!!

Lime granita and cucumber sorbet
I can’t think of a better palate cleanser than this, it was refreshing and light!

Lychee Granita with Strawberries & Coconut
While Eunice struggled in eating so much good food, I gobbled down this dessert in no time. This dessert has everything that I love and it’s so delicious. That granita was as if I’m eating melting lychee. So yummy and summery :)

Tetsuya’s Chocolate Cake
Oops. This pic does not do this indulgent chocolate cake ANY justice. The mousse was so delightful and the caramel is not overly sweet. And lucky me because Eunice can’t finish her one so I had her half woohoo!

Petits Fours
Ok, even though they are small, I can’t finish it so they kindly packed it away for me to take home. The chocolate had lovely popping candy in it, I loved it!

Needless to say, the food was amazing and the view of Japanese garden was tranquil, can’t believe I’m actually in the city. We finally got to try a restaurant that was on our wish list for so long and were not disappointed at all! Remember to book well ahead because it was packed even on a weeknight! The staffs were super attentive, polite and accommodated to all our dietary needs.
