Summer Salt - Cronulla

The sound of the beach always calms me down. A restaurant with a peaceful view as well as good food, what more can I ask for?

Butter poached bugtail with pumpkin and ginger nage, charred pumpkin
and fried pumpkin seed $28
Usually when bugs are on the menu, it will be ordered! This was so sweet with a hint of butter and it went well with the crunchy seeds. We soaked up the pumpkin sauce with bread.

Pan fried barramundi with crab dumplings, crispy zucchini petals,
sweet corn veloute, pecorino and chilli $38
Perfectly cooked fish and lovely crispy skin! I liked the slight chilli taste in the veloute – it reminds me of sweet corn soup! The dumpling skin were a tad too thick for my liking so that was the only thing on the dish that I didn’t finish.

Herb crusted cod with confit cherry tomatoes, grilled spring onion, baby spinach and saffron beurre blanc $38
The cod was as nice as the barramundi with the sweet tomatoes bursting in our mouths. The sauce went well with the cod but we both preferred the sweet corn veloute.

Iceberg, fig, pistachio and parmesan salad with cabernet sauvignon vinaigrette $12
The side salad was surprisingly big given the cheap price! Not that I’m complaining because I love my vegs. This was refreshing and crunchy with both fresh and dried figs.

Chargrilled spatchcock with charred cos, hazelnut puree, grapefruit and jus $38
We loved our previous meal here so much that we came back less than 2 months. The spatchcock was delicious and I really liked the hazelnut crunch in the puree. The grapefruit didn’t really go well with the jus but was fine by itself.

250g chargrilled eye fillet with BBQ prawn, handcut chips, oven roasted tomato
and café de paris butter $60
The boy had this and he said it was perfectly cooked (medium) and would order it again. His chips were crunchy and fluffy inside, so good!

Try to go there for lunch or slightly before the sunset to enjoy the beautiful view. Watch the surfers ride the waves.

This place is suitable for either date nights or group dinners. If you want a quiet one, be sure the request a corner seat. I recommended this place to my colleague for his anniversary and his wife loved it!  After dining here for twice, I preferred the seafood (especially the barramundi) over the meat. If the weather is nice, take a stroll along the beach afterwards!

  1. Dear Feli,

I love grilled spatchcock with just a squeeze of lemon juice as long as it's on the bone too. Lovely views of the surf!
