Silos - Berry + Where we stayed!

The boy and I went for a mini road trip to the beautiful Berry town when the crunchy Autumn leaves can still be stepped on. We enjoyed relaxing, breathing in the farm air and also the food there. Silos was one of the places that was recommended to us and we loved it!

Jervis Bay sourdough bread with house churned butter $6 and Bowl of marinated olives $6

Don’t you just love it when olives are served warm? It’s so tasty especially when it’s infused with orange peels, garlic and other spices like this one. I couldn’t stop picking at them and dip the sourdough into the lovely olive oil.

Pan fried barramundi, capers, brown butter, lemon & parsley $30

Oh hello beautiful! The fish was beautifully cooked and the tangy capers & lemon just helps lift the flavours up. The slight saltiness from the butter makes it perfect (and I also wish I have more bread to dunk into the butter).

Hand rolled fusilli pasta w slow cooked summer squash, anchovies, tomato & stracciatella $28

Mixed salad leaves with cabernet sauvignon vinegar dressing $7
The pasta was al dente just the way we like it but compared to the barramundi, the flavours were a bit average. Perhaps there weren’t enough anchovies to bring out the flavours.

With this peaceful view, this makes a perfect lunch place. The restaurant is also pet friendly, shortly after I took this photo, a couple with a dog arrived and the dog just sat on the grass soaking up the sun while its owners ate. SO CUTE!

We stayed at a place 20 min from the Berry town called The Loft at Graystone Grange - how stunning does this place looks? Glenys lives in this house and also maintains the whole property including the little cottage we stayed at which is behind the house. There are three rooms (2 with double bed and 1 with a kids’ bed) in the cottage. There’s also a farm where she has 4 alpacas, chickens and geese. She offers continental breakfast during your stay and of course the eggs are fresh from the farm! Oh, and the garden there is absolutely gorgeous.
