South on Albany
We knew the boy booked the right place when the owner of theplace we stayed at says this is her favourite local lunch spot.
|Roasted pork loin, cauliflower puree, confit potatoes, green beans, crisp kale and cider jus $34|
The pork was so tender, it just melts in your mouth and the puree was deliciously smooth and creamy.
|Salad of roasted free range chicken, local leaves, kipflers, beetroot, grilled zucchini, pepitas and green dressing $19|
Having just eaten breakfast an hour before the lunch (oops), I opted for a salad. The chicken skin was crispy and just like the pork, the chicken was super tender. Loved the flavours of the entire dish.
The tiny restaurant must be a favourite amongst the locals because it was packed 10 minutes after we sat down and the wait staff seemed to know everyone well!
Berry Sourdough Bakery
Every person I talked with about Berry said I HAVE to go to Sourdough Bakery, but it was packed inside when we went so we just bought a few pastries to have outside.
The croissant and pain au raisin was so good, just look at the layers!
This is also part of the Sourdough bakery which is located inside the town and this is the moreish egg and haloumi roll that I had before lunch. Note: their coffee is great too!
The little road trip to Berry, waking up to see alpacas in the morning and having delicious food is my idea of a good weekend.
