Comfort food with a fancy twist. The Farmhouse is Sydney’s smallest hatted restaurant with only one big table inside and 3 seats on the outside windowsill which offers only a $60 degustation menu that changes every 2 weeks.
Baguette & cob loaf with roast garlic dip, tempura carrot tops, pickles
We started off with this fascinating starter. The green things are actually carrot tops which are really light and crunchy – I love how they use it instead of wasting it!
The baguette is house made and OMG the cob with garlic dip was AMAZING – just don’t kiss anyone afterwards because it’s legit garlicky. The pickles were perfect to cut through the rich garlic dip. This reminds me of a proper Lebanese meal.
Blue swimmer crab, cashew, asparagus, roe
Hey there pretty lookin’. The crab was sweet and the addition of cashews made it really creamy.
Potato mash, Farmhouse taboulleh, charred carrots
Slow roasted lamb shoulder with mustard fruits
The dishes for the main just kept coming out! The massive mountain of mash was so delicious and the tangy taboulleh was a heavenly complement with the lamb. The mustard apricot also helped to cut the richness of the lamb – I never associated mustard with apricot and it was so yummy!
Cucumber yoghurt condiment & mushrooms
This mushroom was out of the world! Earthy flavours with crispy bits on top followed by a tasty sauce at the bottom, can I eat this everyday please? The chilli sprinkled on the yoghurt gave the whole dish a kick and also kicked my appetite to polish off the lamb.
Lemon, berries & almond
After the rich lamb, this lemonly dessert was the best way to end the meal. The lemon curd and jelly was so appetising and I love the abundant amount of almonds! We were so satisfied (and stuffed) after this and thinking that was it, we went to ask for the bill but was told that there was another cake coming! They happily suggested us to take it home and packed it into a box for us.
Baked pear & walnut tart
The pear was so fragranted and was not over sweet with a hint of cinnamon!
Absolutely adored the food here, I can taste the effort & love they put into planning all the dishes. Can’t wait to come back – apparently their pork belly is really good!
