Cirrus Dining - Barangeroo

A night of delightful surprise with a humble menu that only states the main ingredients. The boy usually isn’t a dessert person and the modest sounding caramelized banana dessert won our heart.

Bread Roll + House made Butter $3

We enjoyed the warm bread roll while watching the crowd walking to and from the busy Barangeroo eatery district.

Cured Swordfish, Pea, Lemon Myrtle
The hint of lemon throughout the dish made it very enjoyable. This was actually a complementary dish from the restaurant because the wait between the dishes were too long (we didn’t actually complain though).

Torched Bonito, Cumquat, Salad Burnet $24
This was nothing like what we imagined the dish would look like! The bonito had a bit of lovely charred flavour and wasn’t fishy at all. Eating it with the cumquat had my taste buds playing symphonies.

Mahi Mahi, Fermented Turnip, Kale, Whey Sauce $44
The turnip (the white things that I initially thought was squid!) was quite pungent on first taste but together with the kale, it was absolutely delicious.

The fish nestled under the green bed was nicely cooked, so soft that it required no effort to chew.

Cowra Lamb Rump, Brassica, Smoked Almond $42
We thought we should try at least 1 meat dish here so lamb it is! The lamb was cooked medium rare and it doesn’t have that gamey taste. The sauce was however a bit too salty for my liking. We were going to order a salad but our wait staff told us that all the dishes comes with some vegs so it’s not really necessary to order a salad. Gotta love an honest wait staff!

Caramelised Banana, Coffee Ice Cream, Chocolate $12
Ok, when we saw this on the menu, we both simply visualized a caramelised banana split with ice cream and chocolate shavings. This is so much more than what we envisage and I LOVED it. It had gingerbread and honeycomb crumbs where the flavours just complemented each other so well. The ice cream tasted like an espresso – which was perfect. I would come back just for this.

As we raved on how we loved the dessert, even the waitress said this dessert surprise most people as it sounds so unassuming on menu.

The restaurant is located near the wharf and it’s a really nice place to watching the buzzing crowd walking past. I’m already thinking if we should just come here after work one day to have that dessert again. The menu changes daily so hopefully it (or a slight variation of it) stays!
