My mum’s favourite protein is duck and I knew I had to take her here when my colleague constantly raved about Holy Duck! It’s conveniently located in Kensington St in Chippendale, very close to public transport.
The brightly lit up sign inside the restaurant makes it very hard to walk past it without looking.
Half Crispy Duck $39
YAY! This was the first dish that arrived to our table and the wait staff expertly deboned it in front of us. The meat was easily pulled from the bone and the seasoning aroma was so heavenly.
HELLO crispy skin goodness. The pancake was thin and we loved the hoi sin sauce!
Stir Fry Seasonal Vegs $19
Ordered this because vegetables are important even during a duck feast. It tasted plain but nothing that chilli sauce can’t rectify.
Duck San Choi Bao $24
This was the lowlight of our dinner. Unlike the plain vegs, this had unbearably too much salt :/ But they kindly took it back and cooked another one for us which tasted normal.
Steamed Duck & Pork Dumpling $15
This was the last dish that arrived! For a restaurant that’s supposed to specialised in roast duck, their dumplings are impressively amazing. The skin was thin and dumpling filling with the sauce was just perfect. Can I have 10 of these please?
We loved the nostalgic feature wall next to the wall of ducks inside the restaurant, spent awhile figuring which Hong Kong wet market this picture was taken at and we still couldn’t figure out! Mum loved the duck and I loved the dumplings, the service was good and we were thankful that they recooked the san choi bao without a fuss.
